Islamic Studies Curriculum
At Darul Hadis Latifiah, the Islamic studies curriculum is designed to provide a deep, systematic understanding of essential Islamic sciences from Year 7 to Year 11. Each subject is carefully structured to develop students’ knowledge of their faith and spiritual practice, equipping them with a strong foundation for both their religious and personal lives. Below is a brief summary of the key subjects covered:
Qirat & Tajweed
Qirat and Tajweed teach students the proper rules and techniques for reciting the Qur’an. Tajweed focuses on pronunciation, rhythm, and phonetics, ensuring that students recite the Qur’an in accordance with classical standards. Through Qirat, students develop fluency and mastery in reciting the Qur’an with clarity and beauty, enhancing both their understanding and connection with the holy text.
Qur’an Shareef
In this subject, students learn the meanings and lessons from key surahs (chapters) of the Qur’an that are essential for everyday life. The emphasis is placed on understanding the meaning, context and significance of the verses, as well as their practical applications. Students develop a deep connection with the Qur’an, learning how its guidance can be applied to improve their lives and strengthen their faith.
Hadith Shareef
This subject focuses on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ï·º and his guidance on how to live as a better Muslim. Through the study of selected hadiths, students learn about key aspects of moral character, ethics, and the principles of good behaviour in daily life. The curriculum encourages students to embody the noble qualities that define a true Muslim, such as honesty, kindness, and humility.
Each of these subjects is taught systematically over the course of five years, from Year 7 to Year 11, providing students with a comprehensive and in-depth Islamic education that complements their academic studies.
Fiqh
This subject focuses on the essentials of worship and Islamic jurisprudence according to the Hanafi school of thought. Students learn about the proper methods of prayer (Salah), purification (Tahara), fasting (Sawm), charity (Zakat), and other important aspects of day-to-day worship. The curriculum equips students with the knowledge needed to practice their religion with accuracy and devotion.
Aqeedah
Aqeedah covers the core beliefs of a Muslim, such as belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine predestination. Students systematically learn about the pillars of Islamic faith, ensuring they have a strong theological foundation. This subject strengthens students’ understanding of their beliefs and helps them develop a sound Islamic worldview.
Islamic History
This subject covers the Seerah, or biography of Prophet Muhammad ï·º, as well as the lives of previous prophets and the Companions (Sahaba). Students explore key events in Islamic history, including the revelations, battles, and the establishment of the early Muslim community. By studying the lives of these exemplary figures, students gain inspiration and learn valuable lessons for their own personal development.
