Introduction
The Hifz Programme at Darul Hadis Latifiah was established to meet the long-standing aspiration of Muslims in the UK for an effective way to nurture the next generation of Huffaz. Since the establishment of our school, it has been our ambition to offer a programme that combines the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an with conventional Islamic education.
The preservation of the Holy Qur’an is achieved not only through the written Mus’haf but also through its memorisation by individuals chosen by Allah Ta’ala. It is, therefore, a significant responsibility of the Muslim Ummah to ensure that there are people among us who have committed the Qur’an to memory.
Our Hifz Programme aims to provide a supportive and inspiring environment where students are motivated to learn and grow. We are committed to fostering a pleasant atmosphere that encourages dedication and love for the Qur’an.
“And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember; then is there anyone who will remember.” (Al Qur’an 54:17)
“The best amongst you are those who learn the Qur’an and those who teach it.”(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Curriculum
The Hifz curriculum is structured around three key components:
Students are required to prepare the memorisation of new āyāt (verses) or Sūrahs at home daily, in preparation for the following day’s lesson.
This involves revising the previous two to three lessons (approximately two or more pages), which are the lessons immediately preceding the New Lesson.
Murāja'ah involves systematically revisiting previously memorised portions of the Qur'an to ensure long-term retention and mastery. This daily practice is vital for reinforcing the memorised content and preventing it from being forgotten. Students typically revise a set amount each day, such as a quarter of a Juz, which is then assessed by the teacher to ensure accuracy and fluency. This ensures that all previously memorised material is revisited regularly and thoroughly, allowing the student to retain it over the long term.
Parent's Role in Supporting the Hifz Journey:
Parents play a crucial role in ensuring the success of their child's Hifz journey by creating a nurturing and supportive environment at home. Their involvement is key to fostering motivation, discipline, and a sense of achievement in their child. Below are some ways parents can contribute:
1
Creating a Supportive Environment at Home:
Designate a quiet and distraction-free space for your child to memorise and revise the Qur’an. This environment should encourage focus and spiritual growth, with resources such as a copy of the Qur’an, whiteboards for writing practice, and adequate lighting.
2
Encouraging Consistent Practice and Revision:
Instil a daily routine that prioritises consistent practice and revision. Setting aside specific times for Hifz helps build discipline and ensures steady progress.
3
Assisting with Homework:
Actively support your child in completing their assigned Sabak (New Lesson), Sabak Para (Recent Review), and Murāja’ah (Long-term Revision). You can listen to their recitation, help them identify areas for improvement, and offer encouragement when challenges arise.
4
Communicating with Teachers:
Maintain regular communication with your child’s teacher to stay informed about their progress, challenges, and any specific needs. This partnership ensures that both home and school environments are aligned in supporting your child’s goals.
5
Recognising and Celebrating Achievements:
Acknowledge your child’s hard work and milestones in their Hifz journey, whether big or small. Use positive reinforcement such as praise, small rewards, or special treats to motivate them. Celebrating their progress reinforces the importance of their efforts and instils a sense of accomplishment.
Requirements for Admission to the Hifz Class
Fluency in Quranic Recitation & Basic Knowledge of Tajweed:
Students must demonstrate the ability to read the Qur’an fluently with a foundational understanding of Tajweed rules. This ensures that they can focus on memorisation without struggling with basic reading skills.
